Jasprit Bumrah Out, Kuldeep Yadav Snubbed? India’s Probable Playing XI for the 2nd Test against England:
In order to give themselves the best chance to take 20 wickets on what is expected to be another batting surface in the second Test against England, India will need to move away from their cautious selection strategy.
Jasprit Bumrah, India’s pace spearhead, is expected to miss the second Test against England, which begins on July 2 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Although India captain Shubman Gill acknowledged that Bumrah is available for selection and that a final decision will be made based on the conditions, the 31-year-old’s lack of training leading up to the match may indicate that he is preparing for the third game at Lord’s, which will take place next Thursday at the “Home of Cricket.”
According to NDTV sources, India might make three adjustments in Birmingham as they currently trail 0-1 in the five-game series.
The most likely replacement for Bumrah is Akash Deep, a Bengal pacer. The second modification is Washington Sundar, a spin all-rounder, replacing Shardul Thakur.
The third possible change is that Nitish Kumar Reddy replaces No. 3 Sai Sudarshan or No. 6 Karun Nair. Reddy is an all-around batter who can throw a few overs at a moderate speed.
After Gill acknowledged that it is indeed difficult to bench the wrist spinner, Kuldeep’s selection seems improbable, despite the fact that a number of former players have advocated for it.
“They are certainly challenging decisions. When bowling, the only thing you need to watch out for is how you handle the additional spinner on day 1. And ideally, any action on these kinds of wickets occurs during the first session or first few sessions of Day 1.
The main decision you have to make on these kinds of wickets, according to India’s new number four, is “So, taking a call on that and seeing how you would manage your second spinner, especially on day 1.”
India’s Possible XI for the Second Test:
Washington Sundar, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant (w), Shubman Gill (c), Sai Sudharsan, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Akash Deep.
