India batter earns new career-high rating as top position approaches
Two South African players make progress as the conclusion of their series against the West Indies sees Star India’s left-hander approach the top spot among T20I batsmen.
Smriti Mandhana, the opening batter for India, has reached a new career-high rating on the latest ICC Women’s T20I Batter Rankings as a result of her recent century against England.
Recently in Nottingham, Mandhana, the top-ranked ODI batsman, led England to the sword with an outstanding innings of 112, which helped the left-hander advance one spot and reach third place in the most recent rankings for T20I batsmen.
It also predicts that Mandhana will achieve a career-high score of 771 points and get 23 points closer to Beth Mooney, the top-ranked T20I batter.
Following her score of 20 in the same game against England, fellow Indian opener Shafali Verma advances one spot to 13th on the same rankings list, while teammate Harleen Deol rejoins the batter rankings at equal 86th position after a lightning-fast innings of 43.
In that match in Nottingham, England pacer Lauren Bell took three wickets, and the lanky right-armer moved up two spots to her highest career ranking of fourth among T20I bowlers.
With only 44 rating points separating the top 10 players, Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal continues to lead the list for T20I bowlers.
The last game of the T20I series between the West Indies and South Africa also saw several of their players gain ground in the most recent rankings, with Proteas young gun Miane Smit moving up from far outside the top 100 to 76th on the list for T20I batters after scoring a half-century in that encounter.
Former South Africa captain Sune Luus also benefits from his respectable performances with both bat and ball in the Cave Hill game, moving up nine places to 31st on the list of T20I all-rounders.
